Fitbit<\/a> ist bislang die ungeschlagene Nummer Eins im Bereich der Fitness-Tracker. Das reicht dem Unternehmen aus San Francisco aber offenbar nicht, schlie\u00dflich hat man zuletzt Pebble<\/a> und Vector \u00fcbernommen und will damit auch bei den Smartwatches ein gro\u00dfer Name werden.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tats\u00e4chlich hat man mit der Surge und der Blaze schon Smartwatch-eske Produkte im Angebot, doch sind auch diese auf Fitness-Funktionen zugeschnitten, sodass Smartwatch-Fans eher zu Modellen anderer Hersteller griffen, die beispielsweise mit Android Wear<\/a> ausgestattet sind. Auf diese Softwarel\u00f6sung greift man jedoch auch bei der Neuentwicklung kaum zur\u00fcck, hatte man doch einen eigenen App Store angek\u00fcndigt. So bleibt es wohl bei einem propriet\u00e4ren Betriebssystem.<\/p>\n

James Park, CEO und Mitbegr\u00fcnder von Fitbit lie\u00df Folgendes im aktuellen Quartalsbericht verlauten:<\/p>\n

We believe the evolving wearables market continues to present growth opportunities for us that we will capitalize on by investing in our core product offerings, while expanding into the smartwatch category to diversify revenue and capture share of the over $10 billion global smartwatch market. We believe we are uniquely positioned to succeed in delivering what consumers are looking for in a smartwatch: stylish, well-designed devices that combine the right general purpose functionality with a focus on health and fitness. With the recent acquisition of assets from Pebble, Vector Watch and Coin, we are taking action to position the company for long-term success.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Exakt ist anders<\/h2>\n

Genaue Daten gibt es leider noch nicht, noch nicht mal einen Namen. Stattdessen h\u00e4lt man sich eher mit Bezeichnungen wie „stylische, gut designte\u00a0Ger\u00e4te, die\u00a0allgemeine Funktionen [einer Smartwatch]\u00a0mit einem Fokus auf Gesundheit und Fitness kombinieren“ im Gespr\u00e4ch. Damit wolle man sich einen Anteil des 10 Milliarden Dollar schweren Gesch\u00e4ftes\u00a0sichern – die smarte Uhr ist also noch keineswegs tot.<\/p>\n
